Virgin Voyages Guest Blog
It’s been a minute since we’ve taken an ocean cruise with our daughters. In fact, the last time we set sail, they were actual kids and we were surrounded by Mickey and Minnie! Now that the girls are 20 and 23, we traded the character breakfasts for something a bit more sophisticated: Virgin Voyages. Since it’s an 18+ experience, it’s a great "grown-up" choice for families vacationing with adult children.
But why take our word for it? We figured we’d let Libby and Molly give you the scoop themselves. Now, full disclosure: our daughters are clearly more about the "aesthetic" than the prose. They spent more time framing the perfect sunset shot than they did typing, so while they weren’t exactly verbose, they certainly captured the vibe.
Without further ado, here is a (short and sweet!) guest post from Libby and Molly on their favorite parts of the cruise.

"Our five-day adventure on Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady was nothing short of a wonderful, fun, and relaxing experience. Our time on the ship consisted of relaxing on the upper decks, enjoying the many bars and restaurants the ship had to offer, as well as participating in onboard games such as many rounds of trivia and our personal favorite, a jigsaw puzzle competition (we came in 2nd!!!). Our favorite restaurant, and it was a hard choice, was probably the Korean BBQ where we played a super-fun drinking game with our table (Dad won)! But the tableside affogato service at the Italian restaurant was pretty cool too.
As for days at port, we enjoyed walking around Key West’s tiny streets lined with cute cottages and locals and tourists alike riding bikes and scooters to get around. You definitely can’t miss stopping at Kermit’s Key Lime Pie Shop for a bite of their iconic key lime pie, as well as sampling all the other citrus-related treats they have to offer.
Our next stop was Bimini, an island in the Bahamas where we were shuttled to Virgin’s private beachfront area of the island which included pools, bars, lawn games, and great food (ceviche, watermelon salad, smoked pork!!!). We loved the DJ’d pool party with lots of floaties and fun drinks. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our 5-day Virgin Voyage. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and fun in a sophisticated, adults-only setting. We would recommend this experience for families like ours, as there’s something onboard for every member of the family."
A huge thank you to Libby and Molly for taking a break from their busy "photo shoot" schedules to share their perspective! It’s pretty clear that while the girls have outgrown the character meet-and-greets, they’ll never outgrow a good beach day or a family jigsaw competition.
